Every fever is usually accompanied by various irritating symptoms such as body pains, headaches, and in some extreme cases, diarrhea. The causes may vary from a simple, too much sun to as adverse as a reaction to a certain medication.
Boost Your Immune System
Regardless of the cause, it is a good practice to avoid immediately resorting to medication. Since a fever is an outward manifestation of the immune system’s battle with disease-causing elements such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, it is highly recommended to strengthen the body’s immune system.
Drink Plenty of Water
One of the most important things to do to keep fever away is to be consistently hydrated to aid the body in aggressively fighting disease-causing elements. Drink at least eight glasses of clean water everyday.
Practice Proper Hygiene
Wash your hands frequently with soap and water. It is also recommended that you use hand sanitizers or alcohol for added protection. Take a bath regularly to eliminate the dirt and other disease-causing elements that may have landed on your skin and hair through-out the day. And always wear clean clothes.
Be sure that your immunizations are up-to-date. Keep a record of your current immunizations for tracking purposes.
When Dealing with Fever
When fever strikes at you, the first thing that you need to do is find out the cause. It might be due to cold or flu-like symptoms, chronic inflammatory conditions, recent diet, exposure to animals or people with sickness or a simple case of diarrhea.
Be in the most comfortable position possible to avoid over-exerting yourself. Stick with light clothing and maintain a cool room temperature. A cool sponge bath may also help to keep the fever away. But if the fever becomes persistent for an extended period, it is better to consult a competent medical practitioner.
